Paulo Pagni's death was due to respiratory failure and bronchopneumonia

Paulo Pagni, the drummer for RPM who had a heavy metal band in the 90s called Neanderthal, died this Saturday (22) at the age of 61.

The musician had been hospitalized in serious condition in the ICU of São Camilo Hospital in the city of Salto since May 14th.

PA arrived at the hospital with a lung infection and respiratory distress. He was receiving ventilation via tracheostomy. The musician had been diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis.

The wake will be held in Araçariguama where PA lived. Pagni's burial is scheduled for noon this Sunday (23), at the city's municipal cemetery.

The announcement was made through RPM's social media:

"Our dear friend PA has finally decided to rest after his brave fight for life. He passed away today due to the worsening of his respiratory condition caused by severe pneumonia. We were taken by surprise and overcome with sadness when we learned of his passing a short while ago.".

After RPM suspended its activities in the late 80s, drummer PA formed Neanderthal, where he was also the vocalist, and in 1993 they recorded the 89 FM compilation album "A Vez do Brasil".
