Dropkick Murphys releases their tenth studio album this Friday, the 30th. In Turn Up That Dial , the band takes an irreverent approach to a project released during the pandemic, four years after 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory , released in 2017.
While some bands have chosen to record current times, often in a sentimental way, Dropkick Murphys offers a dose of adrenaline to the audience right from the first tracks, with the energetic "Turn Up That Dial" and "LEEBOY," which make it almost impossible not to get up and dance – and maybe kick a few things along the way, thanks to the infectious sound of the bagpipes.
The album's energetic release can be seen in the music video for "Smash Shit Up ," considered one of the most fun to film in the group's entire career, with Al Barr, Tim Brennan, Ken Casey, Jeff DaRosa, Matt Kelly, and James Lynch gratuitously and strangely satisfyingly destroying objects. Songs like "Mick Jones Nicked My Pudding" bring a bit more weight, but always at a pace that invites you to dance and sing along.
Formed in 1996, the band continues with full energy on their new album, making the invitation to turn up the volume irresistible, even in such uncertain and discouraging times in so many aspects. Listen below.
