Dropkick Murphys announced the release of the extended version of their latest album, This Machine Still Kills Fascists (2022), for January 13th.
Last Tuesday, the 10th, the single and music video for "Cadillac, Cadillac" featuring Sammy Amara from The Broilers . The video, directed by Mike Rivkees of The Rumjacks , can be seen at the end of this article.
The album will feature three live versions of songs from the original release and two alternative versions. Among the numerous collaborations, Cole Quest , grandson of composer Woody Guthrie . Released by Dummy Luck Music , a PIAS label , the album was produced by Ted Hutt and mixed by Ryan Mal . Pre-orders are now available .
“ This Machine Still Kills Fascists is unlike anything Dropkick Murphys has done before: a full album of songs that bring Woody Guthrie’s words to life. Not a tribute album or a collection of covers, This Machine Still Kills Fascists is a collaboration between Dropkick Murphys and Woody Guthrie – artists separated by time and space, but bound by a common philosophy – to create something entirely new,” stated the press release.
Lead singer Ken Casey also commented on the special edition of “Cadillac, Cadillac”: “It’s the story of a guy on the corner watching the American dream roll by on four wheels. He doesn’t have one, but he knows he needs one… ‘I gotta have a Cadillac’”.
Dropkick Murphys will kick off their European tour in Northern Ireland on the same day as the album's release, finishing in Germany the following month. The shows will feature several special guests. Afterwards, the American group will continue their annual schedule of performances celebrating St. Patrick's Day. More information can be found on the band's official website .
