Driven By , an alternative metal band from Rio Claro, has released their newest EP, Ourselves, which addresses themes of trauma, wounds, and abuse from everyday experiences.

The five songs that make up the new work are influenced by stoner rock, alternative metal, and post-hardcore.

Among the themes addressed are the search for self-knowledge, discussions about fear, anxiety, rebellion, and personal rediscovery. Some of the topics covered in the songs come from the members' personal experiences.

“It represents who we are, hence the name of the album. Our revolts, desires, achievements—it’s a moment to talk about ourselves, about things we go through as individuals, as a group, as a society, and to show that this is a product of our existence, our actions, our interactions. There’s no point in running or hiding; life will find you wherever you are, and it will demand that you live, that you experience the world, whether it’s good or not,” the band commented.

The band consists of Alison Carvalho on drums, Dane Anzilieiro and Hueller Figueredo on guitars, Wanderson Brieri on bass, and Marcus Vulgare on vocals. Ouservelves was mixed and mastered by Lucas Neves , and the recordings of each part were done in different studios. The cover art was created by Wildner Lima Illustration, and distribution is by Ogro Rex.

Driven By spoke about the new EP: “It was a very loose process, giving all five musicians the freedom to create according to their own influences and characteristics, which resulted in a sound that is quite original from our point of view.”
