The guitarist says he's excited about the new album

Dream Theater went on a two-year tour with the albums The Astonishing from 2016 and Images & Words from 1992, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and according to John Petrucci, fans will have to be patient and wait for the next album.

The guitarist revealed in an interview on Eddie Trunk's Trunk Nation show that the G3 tour will delay the release of Dream Theater's new album.

“G3’s shows will run until next spring, so we won’t be able to do much in 2018. We know the direction we want to take the new album. We’re very excited. But that won’t happen anytime soon.”

G3 is a periodic tour organized by guitarist Joe Satriani and two guests. This edition features Petrucci and Phil Collen from Def Leppard.
