Dream Theater released the single "Midnight Messiah," which is part of their new album, Parasomnia , scheduled for release on February 7th.
The lyrics were written by drummer Mike Portnoy for the first time since 2009. The reason for this is his return to the band after 13 years in 2023.
“It was great to write again and contribute this chapter to the Parasomnia ,” Portnoy commented in a press release. “DT fans can have fun discovering some of the hidden things I planted in the song, referencing many of my previous DT lyrics.”
“And the music video is a great representation of the excitement of the first two legs of the tour we recently completed in Europe and South America. Just in time to prepare for our next leg in North America, which we are very excited to embark on.”
