Dream Theater released the single "The Alien" this Friday, the 13th, the opening track of their new album A View From The Top Of The World , scheduled for release on October 22nd.

The song shows that the band's new work will explore the progressive sound they are so well known for, unlike their previous album, Distance Over Time , which had a more streamlined approach.

"The Alien" is nine and a half minutes long on a seven-track album, with the last track, the title track, being 20 minutes long. A View From The Top Of The World , it seems, will bring back the group's fundamental elements. Check out the single below!
