Dream Theater's new album will be their 14th
vocalist James LaBrie and guitarist John Petrucci have released a video confirming that the band is working on new material, a successor to the album The Astonishing , released in 2016.
“John and I are here in the studio,” said LaBrie. “We’ve been here for a week, and it’s been sensational. Everyone’s in the same room, and we’re interacting with each other, and I have to tell you, if the first week is any indication of where this album is going, you’re in for a surprise.”
“Not to mention just the style of the music, which I think a lot of people will stand up and applaud. But there’s a weight to it, there’s an aggression. But you mentioned something earlier when you were talking about this, and you said, what was it? The five…”
“The five pillars of Dream Theater,” said Petrucci. “I think everyone is on the same page about the kind of album it’s going to be. I mean, so far the music is heavy, progressive, melodic, fast, and epic. It has all those elements that are the five pillars of Dream Theater, if you want to call them that.”.
The band's next album will be their 14th studio album.
