Dream Theater has revealed details of their new album, Distance Over Time . The album, set for release in February 2019, will be the band's fourteenth studio album.

The announcement detailing Distance Over Time was made through the fans themselves. The band stated that they hope to create an engagement with their fanbase like never before.
Online games featuring treasure hunts and other challenges have been launched by Dream Theater so that winners can gain access to new information about their upcoming album.
Fans of the band had to decipher Morse code, phone numbers, Sudoku, crossword puzzles, and other challenges to obtain clues that led to the material for Distance Over Time . In the final stretch, only the first fan to decipher the final clue would have access and authorization to begin revealing the new cover, album name, teaser, and other things.
In a recent interview, John Petrucci said that Distance Over Time was musically inspired by the tour celebrating the band's most commercially successful album, Images And Words .
