Jordan Rudess, keyboardist for Dream Theater, said he was very excited to release the new sound.
Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess has confirmed that the band's next album will be released in February 2019.
In an interview with Metal Wani , he said that the album is currently being mixed. “It sounds incredible, I’m very excited about the record. There’s a very strong energy around the band these days. We feel very connected and excited. I can’t wait to release it to everyone. And that will happen very soon.”
Rudess also told Lotsofmuzik that the criticism of their 2016 album, The Astonishing , made the band "go back to their roots." "We're going back to the core of our sound – a screaming Hammond organ, killer rhythm guitar, robust riffs, pounding drums, and everyone in the mosh pit," he joked.
Regarding the writing process for the new album, Rudless stated that it was “very collaborative. We basically hid in a secret location, found an old warehouse turned into a studio, and set aside a few months to do everything. We were very energized, had a great time together, lots of laughs. We cooked together, made jokes. Overall, we had a non-stop musical experience together, which was very productive.”
