The band's van lost its brakes.

Dragonforce vocalist Marc Hudson avoided a serious accident last week by jumping out of an out-of-control car that was going downhill at 48 kilometers per hour.

The website Blabbermouth described the accident in detail:

"On Thursday the 27th, Hudson and his bandmates were getting ready to leave Brisbane in the morning and catch their flight to New Zealand. The crew was loading their equipment outside the hotel, into a van parked on a steep slope at the top of a hill leading to an intersection."

With the musicians' equipment fully loaded and a few bags still to pack, Marc went and sat in the back seat, with bassist Frédéric Leclercq and guitarist Sam Totman right behind him. As soon as they got in, the brakes started screeching and the van began to roll down the hill towards the intersection very fast. Sam and Fred, who were by the door, managed to get out immediately, leaving Marc in the back seat with his seatbelt fastened. The van continued to accelerate downhill. Drummer Gee Anzalone tried to run after the van to pull the handbrake, but couldn't because it was going too fast, and neither could Marc.

The van was heading towards the intersection but began to veer to the side. Marc jumped out seconds before the van collided with a tree and came to a stop. The van was traveling at over 48 kilometers per hour when the vocalist jumped. He was treated at the hospital for a possible fractured rib, a dislocated shoulder, and various cuts and injuries.

The lead singer performed at subsequent shows with his arm bandaged. Watch the videos:
