The third edition of the Dopesmoke: Metal com Dendê began this Wednesday, the 28th, with a program entirely designed to celebrate heavy metal music in Bahia.
The event is completely free and virtual, featuring 20 performances by bands from the state and panel discussions streamed on YouTube. The project has financial support from the State of Bahia through the Secretary of Culture and the Cultural Foundation of the State of Bahia via the Aldir Blanc Law.
Among the bands confirmed for the event is Viscerall , formed in 2016, who intend to present the main songs from their upcoming album, Standing Overground , scheduled for release in 2021. “For us, playing at the Dopesmoke Festival is another milestone achieved in our journey,” stated vocalist Alexandre Humildes . “We recognize it as one of the main festivals in the Northeast and it stands out among the most highly regarded in Brazil, for its quality, appreciation, and respect for bands and heavy music.”
The opening conference took place this Wednesday, the 28th, in a discussion on the theme "Metal in Focus: Heavy Metal and Rock in Bahian Culture," a conversation with local producers and musicians. The content is already available in its entirety on the event's channel . This Thursday, the 29th, the discussion will be about "The Importance of Fanzine Culture in the Dissemination of Rock/Metal in the Interior of Bahia."
