Dolly Parton is among the names nominated for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame , along with Judas Priest , Rage Against The Machine , and several others.
In an interview with Billboard , the country star said she was surprised by the nomination and promised to make a "great rock 'n' roll album" if she is officially accepted into the Institution.
“I was absolutely surprised when I received the information,” said Dolly Parton. “I never considered myself very rock 'n' roll in any sense – but I think they judge the music and the influence that certain songs have had, and I think I’ve had some songs with other people in that scene. But I don’t really know how they judge that.”
“I’m not expecting to get in, but if it happens I’ll immediately, by next year, release a great rock 'n' roll album – something I’ve wanted to do for years. Something like Linda Ronstadt or Heart . So maybe this is a sign for me to go ahead with this idea. It’s really cool to be nominated,” she added.
Dolly Parton also appeared last weekend in one of the commercials made for the Super Bowl alongside Miley Cyrus , whom she considers a "fairy goddaughter." Check it out:
