Man on the Run , a documentary about Paul McCartney , will be directed by renowned director Morgan Neville . The film, which does not yet have a release date, will cover his post- Beatles , his marriage to Linda McCartney , and the formation of Wings .
Neville won the Academy Award for Best Documentary in 2014 for 20 Feet from Stardom , which tells the story of backing vocalists for major artists. He also worked on projects such as Keith Richards: Under the Influence and Johnny Cash's America Taylor Swift 's documentary Miss Americana .
“The film tells the extraordinary life story of Paul McCartney after the Beatles’ breakup, how the love he shared with Linda McCartney influenced a journey that would lead to the formation of Wings and some of the best music ever created. The production also covers the arc of Paul’s unparalleled solo career, from the prototype recording of a one-man band, to the formation of Wings and their classic albums,” revealed the press release (via The Hollywood Reporter ).
"The result is an intimate and personal behind-the-scenes account of how Paul progressed from the Beatles' retirement from the stage in 1966 to the Wings tours that would set the standard for arena rock shows in the 1970s.".
The director added: “As someone obsessed with all things McCartney, I’ve always felt that the 1970s were the largely unexplored part of his story. I’m thrilled to have the chance to explore and reassess this pivotal moment in the life and work of such a great artist.”.
Man on the Run will feature never-before-seen footage of the musician's life in the 1970s. The documentary is produced by Universal Music Group MPL and Polygram Entertainment .
