The 14th edition of In-Edit Brasil , the International Music Documentary Festival, begins this Wednesday, the 15th, in a hybrid format: in person, in the city of São Paulo, and online, on the festival's platform and on partner platforms, for all of Brazil.

The event, which will run until June 26th, features a total of 67 titles, including feature films and short films, both national and international, never before seen in commercial theaters. The program also includes various parallel activities such as concerts, pocket shows, masterclasses, debates, meetings, sessions presented by guests, and a vinyl fair.

The In-Edit Brasil 2022 program will feature a special section with nine national and international heavy metal titles. The Finnish documentary A Heavy Metal Civilization , by Cristina Ornellas and Maila-Kaarina Rantanen , includes testimonials from the biggest names in the genre, who share their views on society, religion, politics, and how an underground subculture became an important ambassador of local culture.

Director Ricardo 'Micka' Michaelis pays a beautiful tribute to the beginnings of heavy metal in Brazil (1980-1989) in * Brasil Heavy Metal *. The story of one of the biggest names in world heavy metal, Ronnie James Dio , through all his phases, from his adventures with Ritchie Blackmore in Rainbow and replacing Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath , to the formation of his own band, is told in *DIO Dreamers Never Die* , by Don Argott and Demian Fenton.

The documentary Murder in the Front Row: The San Francisco Bay Area Thrash Metal Story , by Adam Dubin , shows the birthplace where bands like Metallica , Megadeth , Exodus , Anthrax , Testament and Slayer emerged to conquer the world.

Furthermore, the festival will have an eclectic program, such as the Opening Ceremony, which takes place on June 15th at 8:30 pm at CineSesc, with the screening of the premiere of Nothing Compares , about the life of Irish singer Sinéad O'Connor.

Another interesting documentary is a -ha: The Movie , by directors Thomas Robsahm and Aslaug Holm , which shows one of the most popular bands of the 1980s and what stardom did to the lives of its members, Morten Harket, Magne Furuholmenen and Pål Waktaar-Savoy , from the gradual explosion of "Take On Me" to the present day.

The festival takes place between June 15th and 26th, but on June 27th, 28th and 29th, highlights from this and other editions of the festival will have extra screenings at CineSesc, for those who missed the first opportunity or want to revisit their favorite films.
