Titled Let There Be Drums!, the film is scheduled for release in theaters on October 28th. Check out the documentary trailer at the end of this article. There is still no confirmation regarding the film's release in Portuguese.

Let There Be Drums! was directed by Justin Kreutzmann , son of Bill Kreutzmann , drummer for The Grateful Dead . Deadline (via NME ) describes the documentary as "examining the essential role the drums play in great bands and how the music is passed down from generation to generation."

By all accounts, Taylor Hawkins' interview in the film was one of the last conducted by the Foo Fighters before he passed away at the age of 50 on March 25th during a visit to Bogotá, Colombia.

In addition to appearances by Hawkins, Smith, and Ringo Starr, forever known for his work with the Beatles , the film will also include testimonials from Stewart Copeland of The Police , Stephen Perkins of Jane's Addiction , former Guns N' Roses member Matt Sorum , and many other artists.

A statement indicates that Kreutzmann undertook the project to speak with the “most influential drummers in the world in the hope of better understanding his father and the instrument that defined his life.” Bill's son stated:

“The idea of making the film Let There Be Drums! really came to me as a gift. Literally. It started on Christmas Day 1977, when I was given a Super-8 film camera. The first home movies I shot were of my father on stage at Winterland in San Francisco. They were filmed from my perspective, sitting right behind him on the drum stand so he could keep an eye on me during Grateful Dead performances. The drums and the drummers who play them have been an important component of my entire life.”
