DJ Ashba , from Sixx:AM , reminisced about his friendship with Axl Rose during their time in Guns N' Roses . The guitarist was in the band between 2009 and 2015, when he chose to leave the group to focus on his band with Nikki Sixx .

In an interview with Audio Ink Radio (via Blabbermouth ), Ashba was asked about his best memory from his time with Guns N' Roses. “There are so many memories from those six, seven years. I think the biggest memory, when I think back to those days, is how misunderstood Axl probably is,” he said. “For me – and I can’t speak for others – he’s simply one of the nicest guys to hang out with.”

The guitarist explained that Axl Rose has few friends, but is extremely pleasant with this "closed circle" of people. "When you kind of gain his trust and you're in that circle, you can't find a better guy. He's just a fucking cool guy. And we have a lot of fun – on stage and even more off stage," he continued.

Despite their great relationship during their time in the band, Ashba doesn't have much contact with Rose these days, partly because of his busy work schedule. “The minute we see each other, I'm sure there will be big hugs. We have a lot of respect for each other, I think. I miss him. I miss him a lot as a friend,” he said. “They've been non-stop, and I've been very busy, and that's how this industry is. Our paths will cross one day, and that's how things are. It's like a traveling circus.”
