Drummer speaks in interview
Disturbed drummer Mike Wengren stated in an interview with Westworld magazine that, despite being born in the Nu Metal era, Disturbed doesn't fit into the style:
"I don't think we were ever a Nu Metal band. I think it just so happened that we emerged at the same time. Unfortunately, although some of those bands were very good, they're no longer around.".
I think we have a real connection with the fans; we write songs about real things, and people relate to that, whether through the power of the music or by relating to experiences in our lyrics. I think they understand us, and that's why we're still here after so many years.”.
