Disturbed released the single "Divisive" this Friday, the 28th, the title track from their new album, scheduled for release on November 18th. Listen to the song at the end of this article .
“Partisan tribal warfare has become part of our lives these days. It’s a huge battle of cliques. The idea of the album is to be a warning to everyone,” says vocalist David Draiman , speaking about the band’s eighth studio album. The work will follow Evolution , from 2018.
“Our society has become addicted to outrage,” he continues. “Music is the best cure for our afflictions. If only everyone would reach out and use it. There’s no better environment to forget all this bullshit than live music. We can be together and realize we have more in common than the opposite. Acknowledge what’s happening and let’s make a change for the better.”
Speaking about the song, Draiman commented: “The title track and the title itself are indicative of the incredibly fucked up state of things we’re living in. It’s about how hyperpolarity has influenced everything people do in life.”
“People are addicted to outrage. They’re addicted to finding the next thing that will irritate them so they can rant about it on social media. Everything negative has been given a steroid injection.”
Regarding the creative process, guitarist Dan Donegan said: “David was in the room listening to me play the riff and instantly fell in love with it. It was one of the first musical ideas. It’s fun to be face to face because we can feed off each other and see the level of emotion.”
“Divisive” follows the release of the songs “Hey You” and “Unstoppable”, which are also part of the album Divisive .
