After 4 years without releasing new music, Disturbed returns this Friday, the 15th, with the brand new single “Hey You”, accompanied by a cinematic science fiction-style music video.
Regarding the song, vocalist David Draiman commented in an interview with Loudwire Nights : "'Hey You' is basically a snap of reality. I think the quarantine and the pandemic in general, the last two or three years of our lives, have been this incredible and perfect storm of elements."
“We became isolated, we were removed from any sense of normalcy, we saw people sink into social media in a very significant way. And I think that intensified the division that already existed. People cling to their respective territories and their own commitments, whether political, religious, or otherwise. This has become hyper-intensified in recent years,” he concluded.
According to the vocalist, “Hey You” is specifically about “becoming our own enemies” because of the barriers we erect. The track is expected to be part of Disturbed's next album, the successor to Evolution (2018). Listen now:
