Disturbed shares a snippet of "Don't Tell Me" from 'Knotfest Australia' alongside Lzzy Hale.

The band praised and thanked the Halestorm vocalist for her participation.

Disturbed was one of the acts at Knotfest in Brisbane, Australia, on the 24th. The band featured a very special guest appearance by Lzzy Hale on one of their recent hits, the emotional and powerful “Don't Tell Me” from their 2022 Divisive

Vocalist David Draiman had already posted some photos on his social media from Melbourne with Lzzy. Besides backstage and stage shots, Draiman praised the Halestorm , saying: “Many thanks to @LZZYHALE from @Halestorm for nailing @annwilson in #donttellme last night at @KnotfestAu ”.

Lzzy Hale sang Ann Wilson's part in the Disturbed song.

Ann Wilson , lead singer of Heart , was the first to participate in a Disturbed recording session. She added a great deal to the song "Don't Tell Me" with her splendid voice.

Mike Wengren , the band's drummer, explained how the idea of inviting Ann to participate in the album came about. In an interview with Terrie Carr of WDHA-FM 105.5 FM , the drummer said: “This was always meant to be the 'power ballad'. And when we were in the studio, David just threw out the idea: 'Hey, let's do a duet on this song.' We'd discussed the idea before, but there was never the right material or the right time. So, in this particular case, we kind of said: 'Who do you have in mind?' And he didn't even have a list. He just had one person, and that person was Ann. It was obvious. 'Hey, let's talk to Ann. Let's see if she'd like this.' And she agreed immediately. We didn't even have to convince her.”

Mike recalls that David and Ann had already formed a close friendship since Disturbed covered "The Sound Of Silence" and Ann publicly praised the version.

The inspiration for “Don't Tell Me”

Guitarist Dan Donegan , whose divorce inspired the song "Don't Tell Me," had also previously mentioned the friendship between the two vocalists. "Early in our career, we really wanted to establish ourselves without having guests. Not that we were ever against it. We're always pushing ourselves, trying to do things that are musically different. And there's so much talent out there and so many people we'd love to collaborate with now, or later in our careers."

He continued: “A few years ago, someone asked her in an interview or something if there was anything new out there, or more recent, musically that she’d heard she was a fan of, and she mentioned that she really loved our version of ‘The Sound Of Silence.’ And that kind of opened the door a little bit to a social media friendship between her and David. So, when we wrote this song, it seemed like it would lend itself to Ann’s voice. And trying to see that fusion between her and David together seemed great. She jumped at the opportunity. She immediately responded, and we thought, ‘Wow. She just said yes.’”
