On the eve of releasing their first studio album, Zero , preceded by five previously released singles and the provocative music video for "Man Down," Dislaze once again surprises with the quality and admirable dedication to their work through the release of their new music video for "Kadriya."
Doubly impacted by the serious pandemic situation we are experiencing worldwide, the band saw its plans for the release of its first album and its promotional tour completely altered in 2020, having to adapt entirely to the new reality that was unfolding at the most important moment in the band's career.
With their debut album completed and having played alongside important names in the national and international heavy metal scene such as Noturnall with Mike Portnoy and Edu Falaschi , Dislaze has redesigned its trajectory and, through the release of five excellent singles, is gradually conquering the Brazilian and South American market with its unique sound and varied repertoire, forged by the talented hands of musicians Marcos Sel (vocals and guitar), Pedro Fabri (bass and backing vocals) and Raphael Miotto (drums).
Among the singles anticipating the release of the album Zero , one that has attracted the most attention for its quality and the peculiar elements that are part of its composition, "Kadriya" has become the main highlight among the songs already released by the band, mixing thrash metal references with Dislaze's very modern yet organic sound, with a crushing heaviness, accompanied by a unique atmosphere created from influences of Middle Eastern music, especially Egypt, where the theme of the song is set, which addresses the story of Cleopatra, drawing a parallel with a person very close to the band, who carries the name of this song in her surname.
“You put a spell on me And I can't break out. Your voice hypnotises me, Making me your slave now.
Take control of me, You know you can do what you want. Take control of me, You know you are my Kadriya”
The instrument used to create this atmosphere is an artifact known as the Skin Guitar, a unique and exotic artifact created and patented by luthier Sidnei Novo, with Dislaze being the first band in the world to record its singular sound in a studio recording.
Released in 2020, the single "Kadriya," which even gained attention in Egypt itself, had its music video partly filmed in the inhospitable setting of the Joaquina Dunes in Florianópolis, simulating the desert landscapes of Egypt. The band performs in a desolate environment under the scorching sun of the Santa Catarina capital, accompanied by actress Larissa Miotto in the role of the protagonist Kadriya , whose graceful movements and deep gaze create a perfect contrast with the musicians' choleric performance. The remaining scenes of the music video were filmed in a studio in São Paulo, with a deeper, darker, and denser perspective, in contrast to the clear blue sky that stretched across the previous scenes.
The filming was handled by the highly competent Danilo Rozalini and Felipe Hervoso , who also directed the recording, and by the talented and delicate hands of Ana Kathleen, responsible for the musicians' makeup and the actress's costume.
The final result was amazing, and it couldn't have been otherwise, given the care and dedication of the band and their team in delivering a high-quality product far above average. Check out the music video for "Kadriya" below!
