Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney discussed the beginnings of the Beatles and their expectations about the band's future.
In an interview with The Sunday Times , McCartney revealed that he had been pessimistic about expectations for the band. Initially, he thought the band would last a maximum of ten years, believing that to be the "maximum lifespan for a rock 'n' roll group."
Regarding Ringo Starr, the drummer said he had a different idea in case the band didn't go ahead: “None of us thought it would last a week! Paul was going to write, I was going to open a hair salon, George was going to get a garage. But it continued and then it ended. And at the right time, I think. But, you know, that didn't stop us from playing with each other.”
“How many streams did we do last year? One billion? Three billion? That surprises me… The songs are still going strong, you know?” he concluded.
"Now And Then"
Last week, the Beatles released the song "Now And Then" sung by John Lennon . After tweaks using artificial intelligence, the song was able to be released, becoming the quartet's last song.
Along with the new release, the band also made available a music video directed by Peter Jackson , who previously worked with the Beatles on the documentary The Beatles: Get Back . In addition to the video, they released a mini-documentary about the story behind "Now And Then".
