The auction will feature clothing, instruments, and works of art
A vast personal collection of Ronnie James Dio will be auctioned off. It will include 666 items such as musical instruments, clothing, and works of art that belonged to the singer.
The auction is scheduled for September 14th and 15th in New York, and features a 1961 Gibson bass guitar that Dio played in Elf , estimated at $10,000 (approximately R$39,000), an Aira Pro II Super Bass Elite II bass guitar used in the recording of the album Dream Evil , released in 1987, gold records, stage outfits, and the painting that served as the cover of the 1984 album The Last In Line . There is also the vocalist's 1993 passport, medieval, religious, and sporting items.
“I’m happy that Ronnie’s extensive collection will go to fans, museums and collectors around the world,” said Wendy Dio, the singer’s ex-wife. “These items are very special to me, but I recognize their historical importance.”.
Dio passed away in 2010, a victim of stomach cancer. He was the vocalist for Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Heaven and Hell , and also had a solo career.
The band Dio Disciples , formed by Craig Goldy on guitar, Simon Wright on drums, Scott Warren on keyboards, Bjorn Englen on bass, Tim 'Ripper' Owens and Oni Logan on vocals, currently performs with a hologram of the singer. Read more here .
