Dino Cazares on David Ellefson's departure from Megadeth: "It's unfair."

The Fear Factory guitarist opined that the troubled relationship between Ellefson and Dave Mustaine may have influenced the band's decision.

In a recent interview, Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares gave his opinion on David Ellefson 's departure from Megadeth amidst a sex scandal involving intimate videos exchanged between the bassist and a young woman.

Ellefson, who admitted to sending the videos, spoke out for the first time since his departure was announced , saying that "false allegations" had been made against him, likely referring to rumors that his relationship with the young woman in question began when she was a minor.

In his commentary, Dino Cazares accused cancel culture of wanting to destroy people's lives and careers too quickly and stated that "it's unfair" that David Ellefson was removed from Megadeth if the only reason is the controversy surrounding his name.

“Well, we don’t really know what [Ellefson’s] relationship with Dave Mustaine is like, ” the guitarist said. “I know they’ve been through a lot and that they’ve had some turbulent issues going on, so who knows? If [Ellefson’s dismissal] is based solely on what happened [the videos], then I’d say it’s unfair. But I’m sure there’s something going on behind the scenes that we don’t know about.” (Transcription via Blabbermouth ).
