John Lodge , a member of the progressive and psychedelic rock band Moody Blues , has died at the age of 82. His family confirmed the news in an official statement, but no cause of death has been released yet.
“Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and brother was suddenly and unexpectedly taken from us,” the statement said (via Loudwire ). “John passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones and to the sounds of The Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly . We will forever miss his love, smile, kindness and his absolute and unwavering support.”
“We are heartbroken, but we will move forward in peace, surrounded by the love he had for each of us. As John always said at the end of the shows: thank you for keeping the faith,” the statement concludes.
Lodge was the bassist, vocalist, and songwriter for the Moody Blues, a band formed in 1964. They sold over 70 million records worldwide and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.
