Guitarist Dick Dale passed away at the age of 81 on the 16th due to heart problems.
Dale, born Richard Monsour , became known for the song "Misirlou" with the group The Del Tones in the 1960s. The song regained popularity after being chosen by director Quentin Tarantino to be part of the soundtrack of the classic film Pulp Fiction (1994).
The musician is considered the inventor of the style that became known as surf rock, with its unforgettable riffs. Rest in peace, Dick Dale.
