Inspiring others is, without a doubt, one of the best feelings in life. And for Diamond Head , being one of the biggest influences on a band like Metallica must be an honor to remember, and listen to, daily.
And the re-release of the album Lightning To The Nations , which turns 40 this year, will take place on November 20th, and will pay tribute to the band, with Diamond Head performing a cover of the track "No Remorse" from the band's first studio album, Kill 'Em All , from 1983.
Metallica has recorded several covers of the band throughout their career, including "Am I Evil" as the B-side of their 1984 single "Creeping Death," and again included it on their 1998 covers album, Garage Inc.
Lightning To The Nations contains the track “It's Electric”, chosen by drummer Lars Ulrich as the song that made him want to be in a band , as he told British GQ. “I had recently read about this band called Diamond Head in Sounds that I hadn’t heard of before, so they were the opening act on this compilation album – the song was called 'It's Electric'.”
“When I heard it, I think I ended up playing it, like, 9,000 times in the following month. If there was ever a song that made me want to be in a band, it was that one. I wasn’t in a band at the time – I was still messing around with tennis, although that was going down the drain quickly – and that song was like, ‘Holy hell, if I could just play this song or be in some kind of scenario where I could live my life playing a song like this, that’s what I want to do,’” says Lars.
