Amidst all the commotion caused by the barbs exchanged between Pe Lu , from Restart , and Digão , from Raimundos , Detonautas Roque Clube their new song "Roqueiro Reaça" podcast Tenho Mais Discos Que Amigos! this Friday.

According to Tico Santa Cruz , Detonautas' most recent songs are "chronicles of the period we are living in," which is a great way to describe the singles "Micheque," "Kit Gay," and "Político de Estimação"—all making references to the current Brazilian sociopolitical landscape.

In the new song “Roqueiro Reaça” (Right-Wing Rocker), the message is clearly conveyed: “You stopped in time and became a boor / Your evil rocker attitude is a farce / You spread prejudice and misinformation / You give voice to authoritarianism and denial,” sings Tico. And in the chorus, he reinforces: “Right-Wing Rocker / When you open your mouth, it’s just disappointment.” Listen at the end of this post.

After having his name brought up in the discussion between Pe Lu and Digão, the Detonautas vocalist spoke out in favor of the former Restart member's stance , saying: "Pe Lu spoke the truth, reactionary rockers don't fit in. Rockers who associate with authoritarian, fundamentalist, denialist regimes, who support early treatment without any care, who promote gatherings, who don't wear masks... you identify with that shit, you just don't have the courage to say it."

Regarding the new song, Tico Santa Cruz told the TMDQA! : “We understand that you don't necessarily have to be left-wing to be a rocker, but rock is a transgressive style, and therefore it doesn't combine with authoritarianism and fundamentalism. Some rockers in Brazil have adopted this discourse, and there are several who will feel targeted.”
