At 75 years old, the musician debuts his solo career.
Recently, Harry Shearer, better known as Derek Smalls, bassist for Spinal Tap, announced the release of his first solo album, Smalls Change.
When revealing the news, he also released the title track . Now, he has released a second song from the new work, the single "It Don't Get Old".
The album was produced by CJ Vanston and features guest appearances by David Crosby, Donald Fagen (Steely Dan), Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), Paul Shaffer, Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Steve Vai, Steve Lukather (Toto), and Jane Lynch. Smalls Change is available for pre-order here and will be officially released on April 13th by Twanky Records / BMG.
Spinal Tap started as a joke. The goal was to parody the style of Heavy Metal bands, but after the release of their film This Is Spinal Tap in 1984, the band went on tour and began recording new music.
