At 75 years old, the musician debuts his solo career.

Harry Shearer, better known as Derek Smalls, bassist for Spinal Tap, has announced the release of his first solo album, Smalls Change.

His bandmates David St. Hubbins and Nigel Tufnel will not participate in the album, but Smalls will have other honored guests on his solo debut: Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Taylor Hawkins, Chad Smith, Rick Wakeman, Steve Lukather, Donald Fagen, Dweezil Zappa, and Peter Frampton.

To announce the news, Smalls released a music video for the album's title track and the date of his first tour show: April 14th at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans.

Spinal Tap started as a joke. The goal was to parody the style of Heavy Metal bands, but after the release of their film This Is Spinal Tap in 1984, the band went on tour and began recording new music.
