Deftones , Private Music, this Friday, the 22nd, through Reprise and Warner Records . During an interview on Loudwire Nights , in addition to talking about the new album Private Music , the American band also discussed their history with Ozzy Osbourne . The heavy metal icon and Black Sabbath died on July 22nd at the age of 76.

Drummer Abe Cunningham said: “The first arena tour we did was with Ozzy in '96. We got our first tour bus… It was a mind-blowing experience to be able to absorb all of that, you know?”

Then the drummer told another story: “Later, we had the opportunity to tour with Black Sabbath, the original reunion. It was us, Pantera and Sabbath, as you can imagine — we had toured with Pantera before, so it was like a combination… we were the first, we had finished and I got to watch Pantera and Sabbath play. It was an incredible experience, man.”

Vocalist Chino Moreno spoke about the successor to Ohms (2020), and how he feels about the release: "It's an incredible feeling."

Regarding the connection to previous releases, he said: “Now, looking back, there are little things that stand out and I think, ‘Wow, this reminds me of this or that album.’ But, you know, when we make music, we’re just being ourselves in the moment. Us being ourselves. Although each album is a specific moment for Deftones, Moreno admitted that there will always be things that will make them sound the way they have for 30 years. There will be some of these constants that will make us who we are. But I definitely always try to expand our sound a little without alienating… It was a very organic experience making this record and we kind of reacted to each other in the moment.”

Deftones continues their North American tour, now in its second leg, which begins on August 22nd at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, and continues in arenas throughout Canada and the United States, including Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, on September 10th, and Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, on September 15th. In this new leg, Deftones will be supported by the bands Phantogram and Idles as opening acts.

The band will also play two shows alongside System Of A Down , on September 3rd and 5th at Rogers Stadium in Toronto.
