Deftones achieved a record with the release of their new album: private music . The group, led by Chino Moreno, debuted at number five on the Billboard 200. It is the band's seventh release to enter the top 10 of the chart.
In its first week of release, 87,000 equivalent units were sold. Of that total, 66,000 correspond to physical sales – representing the band's best week to date. It is the group's second album to debut directly in the top 5 of the chart. Before this, Ohms (2020) had also reached the same position, but with only 49,000 equivalent units. Furthermore, Deftones also broke a record with the lead single from their new album. With “my mind is a mountain”, the group reached the top of the Mainstream Rock Airplay , which measures radio airplay. A 27-year wait was necessary, since “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)” reached the 27th position in 1998.
