Deftones is experiencing a moment of global prominence, with the band being described by Chino Moreno as being "bigger than ever".

Fueled by a new wave of fans and the reach on social media that helped introduce the group to a younger generation, contributing to a resurgence in audience numbers, Deftones is currently experiencing a period of major sold-out tours.

KROQ radio , Chino Moreno said [via Metal Injection ]:

“It’s a good feeling, but I don’t think it’s something that… I think I’ve always had the mindset that this could end at any moment. So, I never invest too much in things like how I feel about our band, our music, or our records.”

He continued: “It’s exciting, it’s good to know, and it really is, that we are literally bigger than we’ve ever been in our almost 30 years of existence. But it’s exciting, and we are very grateful.”

This contemporary success comes after a trajectory marked by acclaimed and influential albums in the history of alternative metal. Albums like Adrenaline (1995), Around the Fur (1997) and White Pony (2000) helped solidify the band's unique sound, while more recent works like Ohms (2020), nominated for a Grammy , and Private Music (2025), continue to reinforce their critical and commercial relevance.

Deftones has also benefited from organic growth outside of traditional media, with audiences discovering their music on different platforms. This combination of classic legacy and expansion among younger listeners puts Deftones in a good position in the metal scene, reinforcing that the band remains relevant and influential even after almost three decades of career.

“We want to live up to that too, I think in our live shows and on this album [ Private Music ] that we made. That also makes us want to be better — or the best we can be. In a way, it pushes us a little. I think we're just living in the moment, right? And enjoying it. Letting it flow,” concluded Chino Moreno.
