Def Leppard released their new single “Rejoice” last Thursday, the 22nd. The song precedes their Las Vegas residency, titled Def Leppard: Live at Caesars Palace The Las Vegas Residency , which begins on February 3rd.
In a press release, vocalist Joe Elliott commented on the new work: “This song was an incredible journey, from concept to completion. One day, I said to Phil [ Collen , guitarist]: 'I had an idea for a lyric where the narrator is at rock bottom and wants to get back up. Do you have any songs that fit that?' And he replied: 'As it happens, yes, I do.'"
Phil Collen added: “I had this riff, this idea for a song, for a while, so when Joe contacted me, I created this drum loop with a tribal sound and it blended perfectly with another arrangement I had. I sent it to Joe and it was like magic, he sang over it. And that's how the song was born. Then we gave it to Ronan [ McHugh , producer], who had made a real drum loop with different sounds. Everything started to fit together and it sounded like a powerful vocal. We loved it. It's hard rock for us. It has a bit more impact than the things we've been doing lately. It's kind of magical.”
Previously, Def Leppard received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The band will embark on a major arena tour with 11 shows this summer. These will be the band's first solo shows since their sold-out 2023 tour alongside Mötley Crüe.
