Elliott talks about the relationship between pop music and the band
In an interview with SPIN, Def Leppard vocalist Joe Elliott spoke about the band's pop influences. According to Elliott, "to the dismay of the metal press and fans, we never fit in with Dio, Anthrax, or Judas Priest."
The musician commented that he also realized the influence Def Leppard had on Pop when he learned that Pink, Jewel, John Mayer, Maroon 5, and even Taylor Swift are fans of the band: "Taylor Swift even wanted to do something with us about 5 years ago when she was starting out .
Elliott further linked this to the band's lyrics: "We weren't afraid to sing about relationships or love, which is something Metal never does. We never sang about Dungeons & Dragons. We never will."
