Axl Rose replaced Brian Johnson in AC/DC during a tour
Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen said Angus Young should resist the urge to make a new AC/DC album with Axl Rose on vocals, saying the legendary band "has a lot of integrity .
Since AC/DC completed the Rock Or Bust , a turbulent journey that withstood Brian Johnson's forced retirement due to health problems, and the death of Malcolm Young, many have wondered if the band would continue performing.
Singer Angry Anderson, from Rose Tattoo, said in an interview with The Rockpit that Guns N' Roses is working on a new song for AC/DC and that he intends to have Guns N' Roses vocalist Axl Rose on board.
Def Leppard guitarist, asked about the subject in an interview with Radio The Eagle, said: “No. I’m a big AC/DC fan, and if the whole band goes away…Malcolm died, obviously Brian Johnson was kicked out, Cliff Williams retired and Phil Rudd went to jail. You have one person, so it’s not really AC/DC. Maybe it could be called 'A. With Axl Rose'. It kind of loses its appeal, it becomes karaoke, it’s something else, and it actually loses its integrity.”
He continued: “I wouldn’t do that if I were Angus. I think Axl did a great job. He was an incredible replacement for Brian Johnson. In fact, he was amazing, he did some really good things, but I think as a band, if he were to make an album, it might sound good, but it’s not the band anymore.”
