Paice talks about “The Long Goodbye Tour”
Deep Purple has announced a new tour called "The Long Goodbye Tour" which will begin in 2017 and will promote their new studio album "inFinite," to be released on April 7th.
The tour's name sparks speculation about a possible retirement for the band, which is approaching its 50th anniversary, especially after drummer Ian Paice recently received a stroke, preventing him from playing at the shows in Sweden and Denmark.
Now, in an interview with Heavyworlds, Paice said it's still unclear if this will be Purple's last tour. "It will be a long tour," Paice said. "It might be the last big tour. We don't know. But it will be a long tour and we'll try to put a lot of the new album on stage without losing too much of the old songs."
“We haven’t made any concrete plans yet. But it’s obvious that we can’t tour like we did when we were 21 anymore. It’s getting harder and harder. People have other things in their lives that take up their time. But never say never. We enjoy playing on stage, but we have to be realistic in life. So this will be a big world tour, and when it’s over we’ll see what happens.”
