Deep Purple posted a note this Wednesday, the 6th, lamenting the death of Vicky Lord , wife of the band's former keyboardist and founder, Jon Lord , who passed away in 2012.

Through a statement on social media , Deep Purple revealed that Vicky passed away peacefully at home. Lord's wife had been suffering from a short illness.

"Deep Purple regrets to announce that, following a brief illness, Jon Lord's wife, Vicky Lord, passed away at home on Tuesday, surrounded by her family. She will be missed by her family, all the band members, and everyone who knew her."

Jon Lord co-founded Deep Purple in 1968 and was one of rock's most influential keyboardists. He passed away in 2012 at the age of 71 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Since his death, Vicky Lord has kept his memory alive, supporting initiatives related to his legacy. The bond between Jon and Vicky was well-known among friends, colleagues, and fans; the couple also had a daughter, Amy Lord.

Vicky Lord was reportedly Glenn Hughes and is also the twin sister of Jacky  Paice , wife of Ian Paice , the drummer for Deep Purple.
