Ian Paice comments on the tribute
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced today the artists who will be inducted in 2016: Deep Purple, Cheap Trick, NWA, Chicago, and Steve Miller.
The institution announced that the Deep Purple members to be honored will be Ritchie Blackmore, David Coverdale, Rod Evans, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Glenn Hughes, Ian Paice, and Jon Lord. Paice, who yesterday stated that the nomination would create conflicts among the members , commented again on the nomination:
“I think it makes sense. Realistically, everyone who has made any contribution to the band should be listed. It doesn’t matter if they were only in it for one album or two; everyone who has been in the band has contributed to the fact that we are here today. All these people, from the beginning to the current lineup, have helped maintain Deep Purple as a touring entity that many people around the world have really enjoyed. So choosing some and not others, I wouldn’t have done.”
The Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on April 8, 2016.
