Deep Purple: Glenn Hughes says Ritchie Blackmore was "a little difficult"

“I didn’t spend much time with him because he had his own dressing room,” says the musician.

During an appearance on the radio program In The Basement With Jesse Bruce , Glenn Hughes spoke about his time in Deep Purple and what it was like working with legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore.

Hughes said that when he first joined the band, Blackmore was a great person to be around, but things changed a bit later. "I say this with a smile, but when we first started working, when the band really took off, I didn't spend much time with him because he had his own dressing room," he recounts.

“He traveled alone, he isolated himself, he was a bit difficult. I’m smiling and choking up tears. I love Ritchie,” she added. “He’s difficult. It’s hard to work with people. The band on stage was on fire, but backstage it was a bit strange because we traveled separately.”

Glenn Hughes' most recent work is as part of The Dead Daisies , where he took on vocals on the new album Holy Ground .
