The song "Evil Dead" by the band Death is a clear reference to the movie The Evil Dead .
The film is from 1981, and its story is based on the trip of five young friends who go to a secluded cabin to spend a weekend.
However, some strange things begin to happen, and they find a book made of human skin and written in blood, called "Naturon Demonto" (its name was changed in later films to "Necronomicon").
They also find a tape recorder, and decide to listen to what's recorded on it.
The recording is of an archaeologist discussing certain passages from the book.
Listening to this recording awakens some spirits and demons that inhabit that place, and the young people begin to be possessed.
The film is a bloodbath, with completely insane scenes, including one of the girls in the group being raped by branches from a "cursed" tree. Yes, that's right!
Ash Williams is the main character, and he's responsible for killing all the demons and putting an end to it all when he burns the book.
One of the people who helped boost the film's popularity was Stephen King , who saw the film during the Cannes Film Festival in 1982 and said it was the most original horror film of that year.
"Trapped in a life that isn't yours.
Inner spirits bringing terror, fear, and darkness."
This stanza alludes to the young people in the cabin, as if they were in a parallel universe after awakening evil in that place.
"Voices say that everyone will die tonight.
Your mind is filled with insanity, and you hear them calling."
Then things start to get worse, and they gradually become possessed.
"Covered in blood, all hope is lost.
Eternally decaying, controlled by the powers of dead evil."
A reference to the protagonist Ash, who is practically covered in blood throughout the entire film, especially after using a chainsaw as his main weapon, and desperate to find a solution to the problem.
"Deadly evil,
deadly evil"
A short, simple chorus with one of the best screams in death metal, from the genius Chuck Schuldiner.
