Who created death metal? Producer of Death and Possessed answers.

Randy Burns gave his opinion on which band pioneered the genre.

Randy Burns became one of the most recognized producers in heavy metal after working with big names in the 1990s. The American worked on key albums in the history of death metal and offered his opinion on who the true creator of the genre was.

Burns' CV has some great albums: Peace Sells… but Who's Buying? ( Megadeth ), Game Over and Handle With Care ( Nuclear Assault ), Suicidal Tendencies ( Suicidal Tendencies ) and Extreme Aggression ( Kreator ).

Heavy Culture channel , the producer gave his opinion on which band was responsible for inaugurating death metal, a dispute usually focused on Possession and Death – and Burns worked on the debut albums of both: Seven Churches (1985) and Scream Bloody Gore (1987), respectively.

“Possessed. I think they were the first, so I think it was definitely with Seven Churches ,” Burns replied promptly. “You can argue that it’s not death metal yet, but you know, of course Death is a little different, but Seven Churches was there first, that’s my opinion on that.”
