Dead Fish on accusations upon returning to the stage: "A project to annihilate my community"

Rodrigo Lima spoke about the need to resume live shows during the current pandemic

Dead Fish is returning to the stage, but vocalist Rodrigo Lima points to a disproportionate demand placed on artists outside the mainstream when it comes to not holding events.

“I think everyone in the band is sick. Seriously, everyone is mentally ill. We came back last year, very scared. Then there were the four Hangar shows and the virus was rampant. But we required proof of vaccination and, as far as I know, everyone is fine. (…) It’s a very complicated situation because we are the first to be affected and probably the last to be assimilated back into everyday life,” he said in an interview with Abstratti Produtora .

Even while following the protocol of requiring proof of vaccination, Lima feels there is more pressure on some segments of the entertainment industry when it comes to resuming activities.

“I’m vaccinated, I need to find another way. There’s a project to annihilate my field. Other sectors like football or country music followed suit. Not that I’m against it, honestly, I love football, I just don’t know if I’m a big fan of country music. Anyway, they have the right to continue working. But for me to pay for it, after two years, is impossible,” he continued.

Despite this, the vocalist is excited about the opportunity to be back on the road. “I’m happy to be taking this risk, to be pulling this rope—even though I’ve been accused of so many things. I see that many people are happy. They will continue with their safety procedures, because the world is different now. Life has changed, it won’t be the same anymore,” he concluded.

This month, the quartet has shows scheduled in Curitiba (March 25th, at CWB Hall), Porto Alegre (March 26th, at Opinião) and Florianópolis (March 27th, at John Bull Pub). More information below.
