David Mustaine , vocalist of Megadeth , shared information about his journey against cancer for the latest edition of Metal Hammer .
Mustaine, who was diagnosed with throat cancer in June 2019, announced earlier this year that he was cancer-free, and described to the magazine the arduous journey leading up to the moment he received the great news.
“They hit the cancer really hard with nine doses of chemo and 51 radiation treatments, which just finish you off. My mouth is still bad, but overall, I feel very good,” the musician reported.
“He [the doctor] said my progress was incredible, that both sides felt the same. I had a metal plate in my neck that I thought might cause me problems, but the doctor said, 'Dave, you're in perfect health, 100%. You can go,'” Mustaine recounts.
The musician adds that it may seem bizarre, but he felt and had faith that he would be healed, as he had taken good care of himself and received a lot of support from friends and family.
Metal Hammer magazine can be read in issue 335 of the publication, which can be purchased here .
