David Lynch , director of films such as Mulholland Drive (2022) and the first version of Dune (1984), has died at the age of 78. The cause of death has not been officially released, but the artist revealed a diagnosis of pulmonary emphysema in 2024 – which is why he was no longer able to direct productions in person (via g1 ).

In addition to his talent for directing films that spanned generations, Lynch also had an interesting connection to heavy metal. In 1997, the director used two tracks from Rammstein , Herzeleid (1995), in his film Lost Highway . The chosen songs were "Heirate Mich" and "Rammstein". In an interview with Rolling Stone , he commented: "The crew (of the film) really liked Rammstein and you could hear the music blasting in the trailers."

David Lynch was one of the first to use the German band's music in his work and is considered one of the main factors responsible for boosting Rammstein's international career. The album containing the tracks used as the soundtrack was only officially released in the United States in 1998, the year after the film's premiere.
