David Lee Roth is causing a stir again after attacking Sammy Haggar , the talented and controversial former vocalist of Van Halen . The musician published a video on YouTube on Wednesday, January 25th, in the form of a monologue, attacking Wolfgang Van Halen , son of Eddie Van Halen , considered one of the best and most innovative rock guitarists, who unfortunately lost his battle with cancer on October 6, 2020, at the age of 65.

Initially, the YouTube video was titled "This Fuckin' Kid…", highlighting a phrase mentioned during the clip, but it was soon changed to "This Crazy Kid…" because the word used was supposedly inappropriate for minors, restricting the video's reach on the platform.

As reported by the website Heavy Consequence , the music video depicts a conversation between Diamond Dave and "Jesus Christ" that metaphorically suggests that the guitar genius's son benefited from nepotism, among other accusations, when he replaced bassist Michael Anthony on a Van Halen tour in 2007, while still a teenager.

David Lee Roth "speaks his mind"

According to the website Blabbermouth , David criticized Wolfgang Van Halen for allegedly having ejected some of the singer's guests from the restricted area at some shows on Van Halen's final tour.

According to the transcript on the website itself, David also fired back: “That damn kid kept complaining throughout the tour, as if I wasn’t giving him the attention he deserved on stage. As if Santa Claus were coming down the chimney and walking out of the room without anyone paying attention.”

Regarding nepotism, the immature voice of Jesus, also interpreted by the vocalist himself, says: “Look, my dear, I just want people to know that I earned this position because of my talent. I would have gotten it anyway, even if my father wasn't God.”

Despite the peculiar conversation being quite vengeful and accusatory on David's part, this resentment was supposedly unknown to Wolfgang himself. Considering that in December 2021, when questioned about David's retirement, he said (via Consequence ): “Dave is a… unique guy [laughs]. We don't really talk much. We've always been cordial during tours together, but it's not like I've spoken to him in the last six years. But, I mean, it's 'David Lee Roth', I'm very happy for him and all his achievements. And he's simply phenomenal, he'll always be among the best.”

Van Halen Tribute Reunion

However, according to the website Consequence , in 2022, Wolfgang suggested that the delay in holding the tribute concert in honor of his father was Roth's fault. At the time, the musician confided to Rolling Stone : "I don't like to speak negatively about anyone, but there are some people who make it very difficult to do anything when it comes to Van Halen."

And he concludes: "We only made one attempt, and it can be difficult to work with certain people, which is why the concert didn't happen."
