David Lee Roth has always loved art. According to the Van Halen News Desk , the composer was always involved in the visual aspects of Van Halen , developing everything from costumes to photo shoots and stage choreography.
Over the past year, David Lee has used his Twitter to post his original artwork, which is often related to current events. The collection has gained a space on his official website under the name The Soggy Bottom .
His latest artwork was posted this Monday, the 29th, and references recent events in the music industry. Amidst the illustrations, the words "Nothing but WAP for David Lee" are prominently displayed, followed by a sign that reads "He thinks it means 'wings and pizza'".
David seems to be referring to Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion at the 2021 Grammy Awards. They performed their hit song "WAP" (meaning " wet ass pussy "), which has already caused much controversy in the pop scene for being a song that explicitly discusses female sexual freedom. In their Grammy , much of the song's original lyrics were censored. However, the artists choreographed sensual moments in their performance and were the most talked-about of the night. Check it out below.
The commotion was so great that it seemed to inspire David Lee Roth. In the hashtags, the artist mentioned both singers, but made no further comments. In 2009, David Lee shared a series of original works that he called "authentic originals and incompetent imitations." The complete collection was available on his official website at the time, but can no longer be found.
