David Gilmour has spoken again about his troubled relationship Pink Floyd bandmate , Roger Waters . In recent years, the two have traded barbs due to their differing political opinions .
In an interview with the British newspaper The Telegraph , Gilmour responded to what would be necessary for one last meeting between him and the bassist. The musician stated: “Nothing. No way would I do that.”
Last year, the guitarist had declared to the same newspaper that he used to "stay away from people who actively support genocidal and autocratic dictators like [Vladimir] Putin and [Nicolás] Maduro ." He also stated that he would never "share a stage with someone who believes it's okay to treat women and the LGBT community like that"—denying any possibility of a Pink Floyd reunion.
In 2023, David Gilmour's wife accused Roger Waters of being a "rotten anti-Semite."
In February 2023, Gilmour's wife and lyricist, Polly Samson , said on her social media that Waters was a "rotten anti-Semite".
"Sadly, Roger Waters, you are antisemitic to your rotten core. You are also a supporter of [Vladimir] Putin and a liar, thief, hypocrite, tax evader, lip-syncer, misogynist, sick with envy, megalomaniac. Enough nonsense," he wrote.
In August 2024, Gilmour commented on the incident in an interview with Rolling Stone . He said that the event was one-sided and that it had been intensifying, especially after Waters left the band. Regarding his wife, Gilmour said that "Polly felt she had to speak her mind."
