During quarantine, many videos of artists singing or doing activities at home with their families have been emerging. David Gilmour is one such case. However, the Pink Floyd Leonard Cohen classics and talk about literature.
However, the occasion was not random. Gilmour's wife, Polly Samson , had planned a large event in London that week in order to launch her new book, Theater for Dreamers .
The choice of songs by the artist, sung by David and his family, was also no accident. Leonard Cohen is a character in Samson's work, having lived on the island of Hydra in the 1960s, where the book takes place. The chosen tracks were "Bird on the Wire" (at minute 7:46) and "So Long Marianne" (at minute 30:08), both of which recount moments experienced by the musician on the island or were written there.
